OVERNIGHT TOUR  OF   MATHURA

DAY-01 DELHI / MATHURA 150 KMS 03 HRS.

Pick up at centre of  Delhi and drive to Mathura. Upon arrival check – in at hotel.

Afterwards sight-seeing tour of holy city Mathura and Vrindavan are closely associated with the birth and childhood of Lord Krishna, the guide, philosopher, lover and supreme. Also known as Braj Bhumi, Mathura and Vrindavan are still alive with the Krishna legend. Mathura, a non-descript village on the bank of the Yamuna, was transformed into a place of light and pilgrimage after Krishna was born here. Vrindavan, some 15 km away from Mathura is the place where Krishna spent most of his childhood, serenading gopis and showing miracles one moment, and killing demons the next.

Mathura in Uttar Pradesh is located at a distance of 145 km south-east of Delhi and 58 km north-west of Agra. Vrindavan, 15 km from Mathura, is a major place of pilgrimage for the Hindus, on the banks of the Yamuna. Vrindavan is synonymous with the child like playfulness of Krishna. Both Mathura and Vrindavan attract lakhs of pilgrims every year. Mathura and Vrindavan are noted for their numerous temples - both old and modern. To enjoy the most of Mathura and Vrindavan either visit in March during Holi when the region is steeped in Holi fervour or in August (during Krishna Janamasthmi) and you'll see Krishna fever at its peak, as countless pilgrims gather to relive the birth of the blue-skinned god.

Situated on the banks of the Yamuna, Mathura is a holy town where lord Krishna was born. An important place of pilgrimage for Hindus, Mathura has a number of temples. According to a saying, "One can count number of dust particles on the land, but not temples in Mathura." Every single home, small temple, building, shop, ghat...is considered holy in the city. Mathura is wrapped in timeless devotion to Lord Krishna, the lover of Radha, the cowherd-prince, the charioteer of Arjun and the most popular reincarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Dwarkadhish Temple: An important landmark in Mathura is Dwarkadhish Temple that was built in early 19th century. The temple is the main centre of celebrations during festivals and fairs This is the main temple of the town located in the eastern part of Mathura close to the Yamuna River and was built in 1814. During the festivals of Holi, Janmashtami and Diwali, pilgrims throng the temple from all over the country and participate in the festivities with great devotion, enthusiasm and zeal.

Ranghbhumi - It is the place where Krishna killed Kansa and set his parents free.

Krishna Janmabhoomi: The site of Lord Krishna's birth is ensnared in controversy, due to its closeness to a mosque. There is an old prison at the basement of the temple, which is said to be the same prison where Krishna took birth.

Radha Madanmohana Temple: Among the oldest temples in the area, the Radha Madanmohana Temple was established by Srila Sanatana Gosvami. The original statue of Madana-mohana was taken to Karauli in Rajasthan for safety during the attack by the soldiers of the Emperor Aurangzeb.

Jama Masjid : This ancient mosque is built by Abo-in-Nabir-Khan in 1661AD and has 4 towering minarets with bright colored plaster mosaic of which a few panels are still present.
